should pete rose be in the hall of fame?
we all know pete rose bet on baseball as a manager. but should that defer him from being in the hall of fame? It shouldn't. one of the greatest hitters in baseball history, is not allowed to enter the hall of fame for betting but, if A-ROD is allowed into the hall of fame, I believe i will never watch baseball again. it shows that u can cheat and win, but if u bet u lose.
1) he's not one of the greatest hitters in baseball, he simply has the most hits. Tony Gwynn was MUCH better of a hitter he just didn't stick around so long. That's like saying Nolan Ryan is the best pitcher of all time because he has the most strikeouts.
2) if you aren't going to sanction people who bet on baseball with things like permanent ineligibility, what do you punish them with? You may as well throw the entire rule out the window if you have no punishment
3) Pete Rose himself DOESN'T want in the hall of fame.
If he did, he wouldn't have bet on baseball. It's simple, his actions say that his hobby was more important than the game he says he loves so much.
Now for A-rod, what baseball rule did he break?
What did he to not go into the HOF,
Yes, he cheated by taking steroids, at a time where the owners, agents, players association, players and the commissioner knew about it. But don't let things like right and wrong deter you.
Fans want winners, fans want home runs. Teams want revenue. So, if fans want a winner and are willing to pay the money, teams will sign players. If the team says we need power, then they sign big named players. Big named players get big money if they provide something that the team feels they need, so it's natural that players want to provide that service, for the end customer, the fans.
So, you could say if fans weren't so demanding that their team win over any other, the pressure for steroids wouldn't be as great.
Yes, it's a crappy line of logic, but the fans are NOT blameless in this.
I would very much like the writers to punish players that use steroids, but they haven't broken rules till now.
Now, the league should say that they will put anyone that uses steroids on the permanent ineligibility list, but as of right now, they don't have the gonads for that.
However, Rodriquez is FAR more deserving of the HOF than Rose is.
Larry Sheets is more deserving of the HOF than Rose is as well.
