What do you think of Slam Magazine's new top 50 players of all time list? Agree or Disagree?
Hey B-Ball section,
I was just on Slam Online and looking at their New Top 50 list. Here's the top 10 best players of all time that they have chosen:
1. Michael Jordan
2. Wilt Chamberlain
3. Bill Russell
4. Shaquille O’Neal
5. Oscar Robertson
6. Magic Johnson
7. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
8. Tim Duncan
9. Larry Bird
10. Jerry West
Note: Kobe Bryant is marked as #12 and Lebron James is marked as #42. Remember, this is a list of All-Time Greats.
I just wanted to share this with you guys because I wasn't so sure if I'd agree with this list. So do you think it's legit? Let me know any changes that you would make to make it proper.

Well when making an all time list it usually differs depending on criteria. In this case SLAM looked mostly at awards and stats which is understandable but a few changes should be made.
First off both Magic and Bird need to be ranked higher. They revolutinized the game more than any player on the list other than jordan and talent wise they deserve it. No disrespect to the other guys but how do u rank Bird at #9 and Oscar and Shaq over Magic?
Second off is the issue with some current players. Guys like Shaq and Duncan deserve their spots (or close to it) since they have played most of their careers and have a big resume.
IMO Kobe is ranked too high,im no hater but the criteria for this list is based on awards and stats mainly. With that being said kobe at 12 doesnt make sense cause he has 1 MVP,4 rings(3 which he wasnt the leader) and 2 scoring titles which is good but compare that to Malone,Barkley,Thomas and Dr. J and im confused. And to top it all off Iverson in around #40......wtf(iverson ranked way too low IMO).
As for Lebron ehhhh............ the guy gets the benefit since he is a stat machine so he is ranked alright. Still i would put gervin before him.
Kidd is also kinda ranked a little high and i think he should be switched with AI.
In the top 10 list i think Kareem needs to be ranked higher cause he is the most accomplished player with his resume so i owuld put him over shaq for sure........
For the most part the list is pretty legit and as a whole i just think it needs to focus on talent a little more over accomplishments but obvoiusly for some guys that they didnt even watch some players it would be tough.
